First family trip to WDW. Doin the DDP/value resort/4 day park ticket. LOVE to shop, what is a good daily cash budget for a family of three that have meals covered? Which park has best shopping/need for cash? Anything to look out for/must buy?

    Hi, Crystal!

You've got some excellent questions here!  First, the Disney Dining Plan will be your new best friend, seriously.  You'll be able to say "yes" whenever a child says "can I have a Mickey bar?" or "I want some popcorn!" because it's included in your Dining Plan as a snack!  At snack kiosks and certain counter restaurants, just look for items with the designated "DDP" logo on the menu, which signifies that it qualifies as a snack credit.

That being said, we never miss an opportunity to visit Downtown Disney for shopping. You can simply take transportation from your Walt Disney World resort to DD and shop to your heart's content...without using any of the four days on your park passes. Our favorite shop includes World of Disney, the largest character store on Earth, as well as Goofy's Candy Co., which allows you to use your snack credits on treats such as made-to-order, hand-dipped chocolate-covered pretzel rods.

At a park, however, we love shopping at Epcot. Each country has unique merchandise from the country of origin; you can spend hours just looking through intriguing finds. Back in Future World, however, you'll find that Mouse Gear, "the largest Disney souvenir shop at Epcot theme park" will have lots of goodies to bring home from your first trip to WDW.

Must haves really pertain to the folks in your party; if you are character lovers, then an Autograph Book should really be your first purchase! You can find these at your resort gift shop, as well as at many kiosks at the park entrances. Other popular items include a pressed coin book as well as a lanyard for your collectible pins.  To be honest, what lights up the faces of those in your party is what you'll treasure in years to come!

Enjoy!  Please come back with any additional questions as you journey toward your first family adventure to Walt Disney World!
