Going on my first ever trip to Walt Disney World in November/December! I was wondering which water park would be open during that time (late November/early December 2026). I'm really hoping to go to Blizzard Beach rather than Typhoon Lagoon.

Hey there, Kimberley! Welcome to planDisney, and thanks for swimming on over and sharing your splash-tastic question with us.

That’s so exciting that you’ll be visiting Walt Disney World for the first time later this year. 2026 is going to be a magic-filled year with all sorts of fun events, updated attractions, and new shows. You’re going to have an amazing time visiting the Vacation Kingdom of the World.

Over the last few years, it’s been common for Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon to rotate operations. One will be open while the other is refurbished, and then they swap. Typhoon Lagoon is currently open and scheduled to close on February 15, 2026, and Blizzard Beach will reopen on the same day (schedules and availability are subject to change).

No other water park schedule information has been made public at this time, but we can look at the recent past for clues. The popular Water Park Perk, which gives guests of Walt Disney World Resort hotels free water park entry on their check-in day, is set to return on May 26, 2026, and will be available until September 8, 2026. The perk was available around the same time in 2025, and both water parks were open during that period. Then it went back to one water park being open with Blizzard Beach closing in September 2025. So I’d expect one of the water parks to close in September 2026 as well, but maybe it will be Blizzard Beach that remains open during the fall and winter months this time. Fingers Crossed!

I’m sorry I can’t give you a more solid answer at this time. I’d be sure to visit the Disney Parks Blog as your vacation approaches. They’re the best source of Disney Parks news and updates, including info about Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Whichever water park is open during your visit, I’m sure you’ll have an awesome time.

Kimberley, I hope this information helps with your vacation planning. Don’t hesitate to come back if you have more questions. You’re as welcome as can be at planDisney!
    Magical travels!
