We have our first ever Disney cruise booked for Feb 2024 (12th-16th on the Wish). I’m wondering if the walls and doors are magnetic? I’ve heard people bring hooks and decorate their doors?

Well ahoy there Ricki, and welcome back to planDisney!

From one Canadian to another, I'm so glad that you're spending some of the chilly days that we're experiencing up north to plan and dream about your upcoming vacations next year. It's so great to see that you're gleaning some great information from our planDisney team so far, so I'm happy to help bestow some of my nautical knowledge ahead of your first Disney Cruise Line voyage!

In fact, despite my many years at sea I very recently took my first cruise on board the Disney Wish and had an absolute blast being able to explore all of the new nooks and crannies that felt so different and yet familiar compared to her older sister ships in the fleet.  I am never one to shy away from a bit of decorating, so you'll be happy to hear that the door of my stateroom was magnetic - I even received special celebration magnets that delighted us when they showed up one morning! I can also confirm that several walls within my stateroom were also magnetic in case you want to liven up the interiors and make it feel even more like home on your very first venture out at sea - just as long as you don't break any of the ship's policies pertaining to decorating on board

In fact, you might find fellow seafarers involved in the unofficial Disney Cruise Line tradition of crafting what are called "Fish Extenders" with their own personal flourishes, which essentially act like a column of bags attached to your stateroom's mail slot that other guests may place surprises and goodies inside. (Again, this is a completely unofficial and unregulated activity among guests on board that you might be able to find for your voyage if you poke around online!) There's a specific set of policies governing what you can and can't do to decorate the outside of your stateroom door, so I would recommend having a look. Also note that any policies are subject to change without prior notice and ultimately up to the crew and officers on board the Disney Wish during your sailing, so be sure to keep an eye on what may be prohibited before you set sail!

Please come back to planDisney to ask your very own planDisney Prince anything about your upcoming high seas adventuring to any Disney Destinations. You can also be sure to gain boatloads of knowledge from our Disney Cruise Line specialists Tracie and Adrianna who have each definitely earned their sea legs from their years of cruising!

Wishing you all the best on your first seafaring quest!
