Our first DW trip planned for Oct 8-15, 2011. Kids 4 & 8. 5 days of park time. We are purchasing 4 day PkHpr & the Wtr parks and Fun & Mr. What is the best way to spend our time in the parks? I am at a conference 11-13 Oct, so hubby will hav

    Hi Shannon!

You are going to Walt Disney World when the parks will not be very crowded, especially on the weekdays.  I would recommend going to the water parks on the weekend and saving the theme parks for the weekdays.  A good itinerary would be:

Saturday:  Arrival; visit Downtown Disney and DisneyQuest
    Sunday:  Typhoon Lagoon
    Monday:  Magic Kingdom
    Tuesday:  Animal Kingdom
    Wednesday:  Hollywood Studios
    Thursday:  Epcot
    Friday:  Magic Kingdom
    Saturday:  Blizzard Beach

You should also consider going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on Tuesday, October 11th.  It's a hard ticketed event, meaning it requires another ticket, but it's a lot of fun.  I picked Tuesday because Animal Kingdom closes early anyways and that will give you something to do after leaving Animal Kingdom.

By the way, since it is your first visit, I wanted to recommend the book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It's a great book for first time visitors, with just the right amount of information without being overwhelming.  It's also a beautiful book full of color photographs.  It will give you a lot of ideas on what there is to do at Walt Disney World.

Enjoy planning and write back if you have any more questions!
