Our FIRST Disney World trip is Dec. 20-26th. I've heard both good & bad stories about visiting around this time. Can you tell me what to expect?? Ive heard it's not too bad at the beginning of the week then gets busier as the week progresses. Is this

Hello Holly!  I'm happy you've asked your question here.  Walt Disney World at Christmastime happens to be my favorite time to visit and I've spent the past 3 Christmases there.  In fact, I'll also be there this Christmas.

As for what to expect, yes the crowds are high.  It wont be as bad at the beginning of your trip but each day the crowd numbers will steadily increase.  I recommend taking advantage of both the morning and evening Extra Magic Hours each day if you are staying on property.  What I do is visit the park that has morning Extra Magic Hours right when it opens.  We ride our must do attractions a couple of time before the park gets crowded.  Then we visit other, less popular attractions and have some lunch.  I make our FastPass+ selections for after lunchtime when the parks tend to be more populated.  That way I know we will get to enjoy our 3 favorites before we leave that park for the day.  We always have a sit down meal planned each day so we will head back to the resort and clean up.  After dinner, we visit the park that has evening Extra Magic Hours when the park tends to be a little less crowded.  It's been a great strategy for the past few years for my family.  On Christmas Day, Magic Kingdom does tend to reach capacity.  If you are planning on going there, arrive as early as possible.  Last year it opened at 8:00 a.m. and we were out the door waiting for a bus by 6:00 a.m.  It gets wall to wall people but it's such a magical experience. Everyone is so festive and in the Christmas spirit - it's my favorite day to be at Disney.  I think you are going to have a wonderful time.

I hope this helps.  If you have any other questions about your trip, please feel free to come back and ask me.

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
