Hi! This is our first Disney vacation. We are staying at the Carribean resort and have no clue about how big the resort is or what areas are best to request. We have a 13 and 6 year old. Thanks for any help!

    Jodi:

For the ages of your children, Caribbean Beach Resort won't disappoint!  The resort is made up of six groupings of colorful two-story buildings named after islands in, you guessed it, the Caribbean.  The islands surround a large 45-acre lake, and the route around the lake is a good mile (not that you'd find me jogging on vacation!)  The good thing about the resort's expanse, though, is that no matter where your room is, each "island" is within comfortable distance of a beach, bus stop, and playground for your 6-year-old!

The rooms have recently undergone renovation, with standard rooms sporting a Nemo theme and the preferred rooms in Trinidad North "decked" out in pirate regalia (even the carpet looks like planks of wood)!  Of course, the preferred rooms are also closer to Old Port Royale and its larger main pool and playground, just be aware there's a small price difference.

Trinidad South is more peaceful because of its more remote location over, say, Barbados which is next door to the Custom House (registration).   Jamaica and Aruba get the morning vs. evening sun, so, although you have to walk over a footbridge to get to the main pool and food court from them, it may make a difference in the Florida sun.  A friend of mine stayed on the second story of the preferred building Martinique last year and could see Epcot's fireworks!

Decide what you wish for in a room (standard or preferred room, proximity to pool, lake view, pool view) and then let Disney know at 407-WDISNEY.  (Don't feel like you have to give an exact building, just let them know the amenities, in order, that you'd like.)  Then 7 to 10 days before arrival, call and confirm your request is still on your reservation.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
