Hi Nieckia,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Hooray for your first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
First, I would consider whether your accommodations have laundry facilities. Our packing changed dramatically when I decided that we would pack less and do laundry while on vacation. For a seven-day trip, I would do laundry two or three times. Since we typically go in July, we usually do laundry three times during the week. My husband or I will do it while the girls are in the pool. Review the information on
Laundry Services at Walt Disney World Resort.
Before I decided to do laundry, my husband and I would both bring a larger suitcase (27 inches) and a carry-on bag. Now that we do laundry, we each take a carry-on bag and we check just one larger suitcase. When our girls had to dress as royalty for princess character meals, I packed their princess attire in a carry-on - I did not want to risk losing it if the checked bag was lost!
As you get ready to pack, check out this Disney Parks Blog post,
"I'm Going to Walt Disney World Resort, but What Should I Pack?" On my family's must-pack list are:
- Medications (including over-the-counter)
- Sunscreen
- Rain ponchos and umbrellas
- Tennis shoes
- Lightweight backpack to carry in the parks
- Water bottles
- Snacks
- Autograph books and pens
- Swimsuits, swimsuit covers and flip flops
Nieckia, although we have been able to purchase laundry detergent at the resort in the past, I now bring our own. As you consider packing, also be sure to leave room in case you buy a few souvenirs!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
