Our first Disney trip will be in June, (kids are 8 &9) we're staying at POR for 9 days. Is the park hopper really worth the added cost? We're still unsure about the water park option as well, as I think the kids might just be happy with the resort pool

    Hi Julie!

Congratulations on your upcoming first visit to Walt Disney World Resort!

This is a great question. The greatest benefit to the park hopper is that you will get to "hop" between parks on the same day. For example, you may start your day at Disney's Magic Kingdom Park, and then decide, at the last minute, to have dinner at Tusker House Restaurant at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park. Or, if you decide to experience a few of your favorite rides, you can hop from park to park experiencing those attractions, at your leisure. Those reasons, and more, make the park hopper worth the additional cost.

You mentioned that you are staying for 9 days at Disney's Port Orleans Resort; so that may give you some flexibility and perhaps visiting a park a day would make sense. Because it is your first time, the key is to fully experience all that Walt Disney World Resort has to offer, and one park a day could allow you to do that, without rushing from park to park. If you choose that route, I would suggest that you choose a park to visit and start early in the morning, take an afternoon break, then go back to experience the rest of the same park.

The water parks are really fun, and perhaps, you can visit one of the parks, and then enjoy the pool at your resort the rest of the time.

We have experienced our visits both ways (with and without the park hoppers), and have loved every minute of it. No matter what route you choose, you cannot go wrong. You will be creating the best memories, and that is what matters!

    Have a magical day!
