I am going on my first Disney Cruise in Oct 26! Am I supposed to pack anything special? I heard about a pirate night but idk if I need anything else. Disney Destiny!! Anything I need to pack that I wouldn’t typically on a different kind of cruise?

Ahoy, Ann marie! Welcome aboard planDisney! I am so excited to help you chart your course to your Destiny… the Disney Destiny! This is a great question, because the best sailors are the ones who know what to expect before they set sail!

I am a frequent October cruiser, since it is my birthday month and I love celebrating on the high seas. So, let’s cruise right over to your answer so you can jump back into planning!

It looks like you are sailing on the Disney Destiny for a seven-night Western Caribbean Cruise from Fort Lauderdale, and you heard correctly. There should be a Pirate Night on your sailing! You can enjoy the “Pirates Rockin' Parlay Party”, which is a high energy deck party where you can sing, dance, and rock to your heart’s content. The night finishes with a spectacular fireworks at sea show that always feels like a treasure chest exploding with magic! On my cruises, they usually leave a Disney pirate themed bandana in your stateroom, but lots of Guests dress in full pirate gear, so feel free to live your best swashbuckling life. Dinner that night comes with a special pirate menu that is some of the tastiest fare on the seas!

You are also sailing on one of my favorite seasonal offerings. Halloween on the High Seas brings extra special events and nighttime parties the whole family can enjoy. My family loves to dress up, and we go all out! You do not have to, but you will absolutely see plenty of kids and kids at heart in costumes. You can expect character meet and greets with their spookiest outfits, décor that evolves throughout the sailing, and treats around every corner. It is frightfully delightful.

So, what should you pack? I recommend leaning into the fun and bringing your pirate gear and your favorite Halloween costumes so you can enjoy the immersive magic to the fullest. A quick note about costumes. Masks are generally not allowed for adults, and kiddos can only wear them while standing still for photos. They need to carry them when walking around the ship. No weapons, including toy ones, are permitted as part of costumes. Be sure to check the FAQ for packing and costume guidelines to make sure everything you pack follows the rules.

Ann marie, I hope your sailing is spooktacular and everything you dream of. I have a feeling you will be ready to book your next cruise before you even step off the ship!

Wishing you smooth seas and a beautiful ocean breeze!
