Going on our first Disney cruise in Feb, Is the formal dinner...REALLY formal? What do you wear to that dinner night?

    Hi, Shauna!

Congratulations on your upcoming first Disney Cruise -- I get so excited for other guests knowing that you're going to be blown away by the ship and service!

For Disney cruises which are 7+ nights, there is one formal night and one semi-formal night. Although you will see some guests in tuxedos and evening gowns, most gentlemen opt for suits or sportscoats/slacks, and you'll see women and girls in a variety of dressy clothes -- sundresses, party dresses, nice pantsuits and little girls in princess gowns.  My daughter (14) and I usually bring a long dress for formal night (because we're girly-girls and like to dress up), and then for semi-formal night, we either wear a party dress or a pantsuit. My husband and oldest son (17) wear their dark, formal suits (with ties) on formal nights and wear the same thing on semi-formal night...without the tie and/or the jacket.

The other nights for dinner you can dress "cruise casual" -- which means no shorts, swimwear or tank tops in the main restaurants. For those evenings, my boys usually wore jeans or cargo pants and a t-shirt or collared shirt.  My daughter and I usually wore a sundress or a nice top and jeans/cropped pants.

I hope this helps you pack and plan, and please let me know if other questions pop into your head before you sail.  Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
