We are going on our first Disney Cruise this December (over Christmas). It will also be my daughters 9th birthday during our cruise. What types of special things do they do for birthdays and for Christmas on the cruise?

I’m envisioning a magical cruise for your family with Christmas and birthday festivities aboard your Disney cruise!

My son has a January birthday and we once cruised with Disney while celebrating his special day.

First, I ordered a Stateroom Celebration package which included having our stateroom decorated with a birthday banner. When our son opened the door to the cabin and saw the decorations, he was so excited that Mickey remembered his birthday. Then, he noticed the cake waiting for him on the table! It was worth the extra cost, however, you could also bring your own decorations.

Also, let Disney Cruise Line know about your daughter’s birthday. Have it noted on your reservation! At dinner, the birthday girl will receive a cake presented by singing servers. Do not hesitate to remind your Head Server about the celebration.

Christmas aboard the Disney Cruise Line is an extravaganza. You’ll notice festive décor from the moment that you walk into the terminal at Port Canaveral. Aboard the ship, yards of ribbon, strings of lights, trees, wreathes, a large gingerbread house and costumed characters created a holiday wonderland.

In the atrium, there is often a tree lighting ceremony on the holiday cruises. During your cruise, you’ll be able to pose with characters in their holiday attire for family portraits, sing carols and listen to holiday music. Special activities may include gingerbread house building, decorating stockings, Mrs. Claus reading by the tree and Santa Goofy handing out surprises along with cookies and milk on Christmas morning. Holiday parties pool-side will be scheduled as well.

Castaway Cay also gets a holiday makeover. Look for snowmen  and magical flurries in this tropical paradise!

A holiday feast, or course,  will also be served.
