First day at Magic Kingdom is Dec 16th! Only get to spend an 1 1/2 hr there! My mom wants to watch kids faces when they do the train! Any ideas on what to do in that 1 1/2 with 17 people? Breakfast at CM at 11:15! What time do we need to leave park by?

    Hi, Melissa!

Let's do the best we can with the time you have!  You are going to have to figure out how to keep your group of 17 together.  Guests are easily distracted walking up Main Street, so decide on a plan.  If you want to try to keep your group whole, I would write out the plan and pass it out to everyone.  If anyone flees the group, just keep going with your plan and hope that the majority sticks with it!  (Your other option is make it a "free for all" and tell everyone to have fun and meet back at front gates at 10:45.)

You should plan to be at the front gates of the Magic Kingdom by 8:30 am.  Get a good view of the train station.  A few minutes before the park opens at 9:00 am, there will be a fun Welcome show that you won't want to miss.  I am a real sap for anything Disney, but everytime that train pulls up in the morning with all my favorite Disney pals, it brings me to tears!  After Rope Drop, head onto the most magical place ever:  Main Street USA.  (This will be your biggest challenge, as everyone is going to be tempted to go in 17 different directions!)  My plan would be to head through the Castle into Fantasyland.   Hop on it's a small world, as you should be able to get on very quickly and your whole group can ride together in one boat.  Next, head deeper into Fantasyland to the Flying Dumbos.   Take a quick spin, then you can walk to the Fantasyland Train Station.   This will take you back to the front gates of the park.  Make sure you are walking out the front gates by about 10:50 am for your 11:15 reservation at Chef Mickeys.  You can simply walk over to the Contemporary for your meal with Mickey!

I know this does not seem like a lot, but with a big group, getting in 3 attractions in less than 2 hours will be a real victory!  Make a plan, stick with it, and enjoy the time you have in Magic Kingdom!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
