Why ahoy there Tamara, welcome aboard planDisney!
As someone who has spent over a decade living on ships and sailing the seas, it's always so exciting to connect with former landlubbers as they make their first foray into cruising and earn their sea legs, so to speak. There's really no better ship to begin this new adventure on than the
Disney Treasure as she makes her
maiden voyage with guests out of Port Canaveral in a year from now!
I recently debarked from the Disney Wish, which is her sister ship that is nearly identical in many respects,
with the exception of an overall shift in theming across many of the spaces and venues on board. You'll be happy to hear that I was able to bring my current
MagicBand+ that previously allowed me to access the magic at the theme parks on land, and have it seamlessly work on board from opening my stateroom door, charging my purchases to our onboard folio and even interacting with features found in
Star Wars: Cargo Bay, Marvel Super Hero Academy and the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab located in the youth spaces.
As a bit of a fun and functional memento for your first voyage, you can even purchase
a new DisneyBand+ (the way these bands are called on the Disney Cruise Line ships at sea as well as internationally) with an option that is unique to each ship! What I highly recommend if you're planning to bring any existing bands with you, is to ensure that they are linked to your Disney account and fully charged ahead of your Embarkation Day and
download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App in advance; that way the Guest Services crew members will be best equipped to assist you in case of any technical difficulties that may arise with any brand-new vessel on her initial sailings.
If you haven't already, watch
this magnificent introduction to the Disney Treasure as you follow in the footsteps of fellow adventurer Arthur Quinn and don't hesitate to
come back here to planDisney for more tips, advice and even a bit of nautical knowledge ahead of your voyage.
I hope you fall in love with sailing the seas on your first journey just like I did!
