Howdy Jacob and welcome to planDisney!
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is my favorite Resort at Walt Disney World! I've been camping there since I was little and I just love bringing my own kids to make new memories with them. I just know you're going to have a great time in just a few weeks!
Fire pits are allowed at Fort Wilderness, but Disney is very strict with the kind that you can have. Any fire pit you use must have a solid metal top and be completely caged. This is to prevent having an open flame and to limit the exposure of embers and/or sparks. You can do a quick Google search for "Fort Wilderness approved fire pits" and you'll find a photo of the flyer that is posted around the campground. If you do decide to bring your own fire pit, add firewood to your list. It's been hit or miss if firewood has been available in the Trading Posts, so I always suggest bringing your own just in case you can't find any on property.
If you decide not to bring your own fire pit, head on over to the nightly
Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long. It's so much fun to spend some time with these two troublemakers and also make our own sweet treats. The only question to ask yourself is how do you like your marshmallow roasted? Personally, I like mine just slightly tanned. Delish! You can bring your own supplies to make s'mores or you can purchase them at the Chuckwagon Snack Bar.
If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend
renting a golf cart. They are the best mode of transportation around the campground since access to cars is limited. Our favorite thing to do while camping is ride around after dark to look at all of the amazingly decorated campsites with beautiful lights and character inflatables. Golf carts are limited, so you'll need to make a reservation in advance.
Please stop back by if you have any additional vacation planning questions.
Have a magical day!
