We just finished or Cruise and decided to became DVC members while onboard. We are off ther ship but still on vacation and would like to call to schedule our Cruise for next year. Can we do this with out of DVC ID number? Thanks In Advance!

    Hello, Alacia!

Congratulations on your choice to join the Disney Vacation Club family! Welcome home!

It's always a great idea to look ahead toward your next vacation using your Membership, especially when you are looking to book a Disney Cruise Line vacation (Members can make reservations 24 months in advance of sailing date, so planning ahead to get just the category and location on the ship that you want is a good idea.)

Because you haven't yet finished the process of joining DVC (at which point, you'll receive your DVC Member ID, after having your signed contract notarized and returned to DVC) you won't be able to use your DVC Membership in order to book a cruise. However, if the thought of waiting to book your next cruise makes you nervous, you can call Disney Cruise Line and book directly through them. Once your paperwork through DVC has been fully processed, you can then call Member Services at (800) 800-9800 and ask the Cast Member to see if a DVC points-based reservation is available on that same cruise (only a portion of reservations on a DCL cruise will be set aside for points-based reservations.) If there is, Member Services can convert your existing reservation with DCL over to a reservation using DVC Membership points. At that time, you'll be charged a non-refundable $95 transaction fee.

Keep in mind, too, that if you don't have enough points for all of the folks staying in your cabin (even if you borrow points from your next Use Year), Members are allowed to pay for just one person and then pay the cash equivalent for any others staying in the same cabin. (Just thought you might want to consider that option, too!) :-)

Again, welcome to the Disney Vacation Club family! Your Membership is a great way to ensure decades of family vacations all over the land and sea!

Send more questions as you think of them. I'd love to help!
