Hiya, Latresha!
Welcome to planDisney! I am delighted that you have stopped by with your travel planning question. Disney gift cards are a great way to budget for a Walt Disney World Resort vacation package or avoid carrying cash while you are off on your magical adventure. I am a huge fan of purchasing gift cards over periods of time and applying them to my vacation balance. Especially when you find a great deal through select retailers. This can end up saving you a little extra money that can be set aside for Mickey Bars and Minnie ears! But as all planners and travelers know, sometimes things change and you need to cancel or modify a trip. And sadly, sometimes we misplace our gift cards. It has happened to all of us at some point! So now what?
My first recommendation is to take a photo of all
Disney gift cards that you purchase. This is incredibly helpful if you ever have to
report a card lost or stolen. If you do not have your gift card you will need a
purchase receipt to transfer funds to a replacement card. If you have recently used a gift card towards a vacation package and you need to cancel, the funds will be refunded to the original gift card. So be sure to mention any gift card changes when canceling by phone with a Cast Member. Canceling your package online would result in an automatic refund to the original payment source, so if you no longer have the card I recommend contacting the
Disney Resort Hotel Reservation team to let them know about the change. You may also have the ability to change your travel plans to a later date or a different package that better suits your travel needs. If this is an option you will be able to transfer any payments made to the new reservation. This is a great choice for putting the funds towards future use if you are unable to locate your gift card or have a replacement card issued.
I hope that these tips help you secure your gift card funds for a future visit if you are unable to make your spring trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth.
We'll see ya real soon!
