Ahoy, Sherri! Welcome aboard planDisney!
The
1820 Society is a great option for Guests sailing on Disney Cruise Line who have aged out of the Youth Clubs but aren't quite old enough for the 21-and-over nightlife scene. It was created specifically for cruisers ages 18 to 20, giving them plenty of opportunities to connect with others their age and make the most of their time onboard.
One activity they won’t want to miss is the first 1820 Society gathering on embarkation night. It’s a fun icebreaker where everyone gets a chance to meet, mingle, and start making new friends. I've sometimes seen the group gather at Cove Café for a complimentary specialty coffee tasting, which is a fun way to kick things off. Even better, attendees can share ideas for activities they'd like to see throughout the sailing, helping shape the fun for the rest of the cruise!
The 1820 Society is led by Disney Cruise Line's incredible Cruise Staff team. They do a wonderful job creating a laid-back, inclusive atmosphere and planning activities that get everyone interacting. Their energy and enthusiasm make it easy for new friendships to form from day one.
Throughout the voyage, the fun keeps going with activities that may include game challenges, smoothie meetups, ice cream socials, group lunches, and more. Many participants also organize their own informal hangouts after meeting through the group, which makes that first-night event even more important. It's often where lifelong cruise friendships begin! Our daughter met one of her friends in the Youth Club many years ago, and even though they are in different states, they have remained friends and have traveled back and forth between our homes to see each other! Best friends are made on cruises!
While the 1820 Society doesn't have a dedicated space like the
Youth Clubs, that's because so much of the ship is already open to them. Guests in this age group can enjoy many of the adult-exclusive offerings onboard, including game shows, entertainment, and events designed for Guests 18 and older. They can also relax in the Quiet Cove adult pool area and take advantage of other adult spaces throughout the ship. Combined with the activities and connections offered through the 1820 Society, it adds up to a fun, memorable, and uniquely Disney Cruise Line experience! Once you board, check the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for where the first night’s meet up will be!
My biggest tip: encourage your 18-to-20-year-old cruisers to attend that first-night meetup. It's the perfect way to break the ice, meet their cruise crew, and set sail on a week full of fun!
Don't forget about all the
family fun happening throughout your cruise! Be sure to check the Navigator app each day for the latest schedule of activities and events. Family Trivia is a fantastic way to spend time together, test your Disney knowledge, and maybe sail away with a winner's medal!
Sherri, prepare to chart a course to adventure onboard your sailing! If you have anymore questions as you countdown to embarkation, come see us anytime!
Your cruise friend,
Kimberly
