Hi Deborah!
So glad to have you visit us at planDisney! Wow, you are going to win Grandparent of the Year by taking the grandkids on a Disney cruise. I only wish that Disney Cruise Line had been sailing the seven seas when I was little so I could have convinced my grandparents to do that, too! Oh well, I’ll just live vicariously through you if that’s ok.
You are correct that there is some
additional paperwork required for traveling with your grandchildren. First, I am presuming that the child’s parent/legal guardian is not coming on the cruise. In that case, when a Guest is a minor aged 17 or under and is traveling without a parent or legal guardian, the accompanying adult Guest must have an
Authorization For Minor To Travel Without a Parent or Legal Guardian Form completed and signed by that child's parent or legal guardian.
You will also need all the relevant travel documentation (depending on the itinerary you have selected and where your travels take you). I recommend that you check the
Passport and Travel Documentation link on Disney Cruise Line's website for the most current information. This will help you determine if passports are needed or just birth certificates, and photo IDs for kids 16 and up. We don’t want you to run into any snafus on embarkation day!
Once you have all your ducks in a row (which Donald will appreciate), you can start the fun part: looking forward to experiencing all the magic that’s included on a Disney cruise! Sail back to planDisney if we can help you as you navigate the cruise planning waters.
Happy Sailing!
Sherry
