Ahoy there, Tiara! Welcome aboard planDisney!
As someone who grew up in the mid-Atlantic region, I definitely understand the need for a fan at all times. It's funny how unless you've lived through summer with the craziest humidity I can remember of all the places I've lived in the US, people think it's like summer in the Bay area or something!
Well, seems I've sailed a bit off course, where was I...ah yes, fans!
I have good news for you! According to Disney Cruise Line crew members, small fans are allowed onboard, with a few stipulations: it must be compact, on a stable base to withstand the ship's motion, and come with you on embarkation day in a carry-on bag. The fan, like other large electronics able to be brought on
Disney Cruise Line ships, needs to be inspected before you can use it, so once you are on the ship you will need to contact Guest Services to have the Chief Electrician approve the use of your fan in your stateroom!
While there isn't a list of approved fans, I would start by making sure your fan is "UL listed" and its cord and plug are in good shape without any fraying or damage, since these are some of the things I'd assume the Chief Electrician will be looking for!
It's not every day one gets to meet the ship's Chief Electrician, so although this may seem like a bit of a hoop to jump through, I'd call that a pretty awesome one! It almost feels like something you'd have to do on the
Halcyon Starcruiser! Which, now that I think about it would make sense because whether cruising the oceans here on Earth or the intergalactic superhighways, it's always the officers' job to keep Guests safe!
I hope that helps you set a course for adventure, Tiara, with a bit of extra wind in your sails! Thank you so much for your question, and if you have any others as you continue planning, please drop me another line here at planDisney! I'll be looking for it to be the quickest moving one around!
Fair winds (haha, get it?) and following seas!
