Welcome to planDisney David! Thank you so much for sending in your question. It’s so exciting to hear that you’re preparing for your upcoming
Walt Disney World adventure! Planning ahead for dining is a fantastic way to set your budget and avoid surprises, and I’m happy to help explain how you can find dining prices and understand what to expect when making reservations.
Dining reservations themselves are usually free to make. In most cases, you do not pay anything at the time you book. The reservation simply holds your table, and you pay for the meal when you eat.
To find out what a dining reservation will cost, the easiest way is through the
My Disney Experience app or the Walt Disney World website. Search for the restaurant you’re interested in and open its page. There will be a “View Menu” option, and the prices are listed next to each item. For regular table-service restaurants, you choose and pay per item, just like a normal restaurant.
Some restaurants have a fixed price per person instead of individual menu prices. This is common for character dining, buffets, and family-style meals. On those restaurant pages, Disney clearly lists the cost per adult and per child, usually near the top of the page. Even with these meals, you normally still pay at the restaurant rather than in advance.
Only a small number of dining experiences require payment when you book. These include things like dessert parties, dinner shows, or special event dining packages. If advance payment is required, Disney will clearly state this before you confirm the reservation.
Although you usually don’t pay upfront, Disney does require a credit or debit card to hold the reservation. If you don’t show up and don’t cancel in time, a no-show fee is charged. Most reservations must be cancelled at least two hours before the booking time to avoid that fee.
David, I hope this helps you feel well prepared as you plan the dining details for your Walt Disney World visit. Thank you so much for visiting planDisney with your question. I hope your stay at Port Orleans – French Quarter is filled with delicious meals, magical moments, and wonderful memories that last long after you return home.
