Hi Craig, welcome to planDisney!
These days, a lot of people are answering the call to Walt Disney World Resort. The
50th Anniversary festivities are in full swing and there's always something to celebrate throughout the four seasons. Having visited The Most Magical Place on Earth in every season, my family especially loves experiencing Disney magic in the
fall. We avoid the peak heat and crowds of summer and enjoy seasonal festivities like the
EPCOT Food and Wine Festival and, most recently, the
Disney After Hours Boo Bash.
Valid admission and
park pass reservations are currently required for theme park entry. A look at the
Theme Park Availability Calendar gives you some indication about crowds, Craig, as dates with limited park availability appear in yellow and dates with no park availability appear in red. An online search for Disney crowd calendars will give you some predictions based on historical trends though, in my experience, current crowd levels do not align with past precedence. In general, times when kids are out of school tend to be the busiest throughout the theme parks: holiday weekends, the summer months, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
An important part of managing the crowds on any park day is pre-planning.
Advance dining reservations give you a mid-day break or a supper time slow down. Staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel and taking advantage of
early theme park entry and/or
extended evening theme park hours guarantees smaller crowds. Purchasing
Disney Genie+ service promises a limited wait time for over 40 attractions throughout the theme parks and reserving an
Enchanting Extras Collection experience such as a
Magic Kingdom 50th Fireworks Dessert Party ensures a prime spot and plenty of elbow room for
Disney Enchantment viewing.
