How do I find an affordable cake for a group of 17 people at Walt Disney World's Epcot Garden Grill ? The cake hotline quoted $300.00 for a 1/2 sheet cake, very simple, with a picture of the castle since it is a 50th Birthday & mostly adults. To much!

    Hi Donna,

I'm guessing that the picture of the castle is what is making the cost of the cake so high.  Normally, a 1/2 sheet cake costs around $80 for the cake plus another $40 or so for basic decorations.  Special requests can get pricey, but the results are usually stunning.

My first suggestion is to order a smaller cake.  I think 10-inch cakes are the smallest you can order with special decoration requests.  They start at around $45 for the cake, plus the cost of decorations.  We had one of these at a recent Mom's Panel gathering.  There were about 30 people, and there was more than enough cake to go around.  Of course, we had all just stuffed ourselves at Crystal Palace, but since you'll be eating at Garden Grill, I think it will be a similar situation.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
