We are finally taking a 3 night cruise to the Bahamas/Castaway Cay in July for our daughter's 10th birthday. We also have a little one that will be 2-3/4 by that time. Any tips for pre-trip planning or on board? How do we get around the islands?

    Ahoy Luz –
We are so excited to hear about your daughter’s 10th birthday. What an exciting way to celebrate her special day! We know that you will have a fabulous cruise in July, and since you are doing some birthday planning, we would love to help you with some tips. Of course your 10-year-old will love the Oceaneer Club which is a fabulous club for kids to play, explore and make new friends. My pirate fairy princess loved her time there.  Your other tiger cub will be too young for Oceaneer but may enjoy some time in “it’s a small world nursery” where trained counselors will care for your children for a nominal fee. Since you will be celebrating a birthday, make sure that you note the celebration in your booking by calling your travel agent or Disney Cruise Line at (800) 951-3532. I also suggest that you visit Guest Services at Deck 3 Midship in order to get a birthday button so that everyone can celebrate with you. If you would like to arrive to a nicely decorated birthday surprise in your stateroom, visit Gifts and Amenities to order birthday decorations and you can even order a cake. Consider a visit to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for a special Princess birthday makeover. As far as the Bahamas, if you book an excursion, transfers around the island will be included, otherwise, there will be taxis available at the dock if you wish to explore the island. After debarkation, you will find shopping, hair braiding, and Bahamian treats within walking distance of the ship. Castaway Cay is a simple walk down the dock and requires no transport, but wheelchairs and wagons are available to those needing extra help.  Luz, I’m so excited to hear about your cruise and please come back to see us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
