We are finally planning my 3 year olds first trip. When planning online I'm forced to reserve a family suite (family of 5). She will be sleeping on the floor on her air mattress. If I call Disney will they let me reserve a standard room instead?

Hi Michael! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I have a family of five so I know how frustrating finding accommodations for all of us can be. Unfortunately once your youngest turns three years old it’s a game changer. Standard rooms no longer are an option even if you want her to sleep on an air mattress.

There are a couple of options however. First and the one you have already found are the Family Suites at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. I will be honest when I say that my family actually has really fallen in love with these. They are so spacious and we love that there are two bathrooms. Another option is to reserve two connecting Value Resort rooms at a place like Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Some of the moderate Resort hotels and most of the Deluxe Resort hotels have rooms that do accommodate a family of five. We love to stay at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter or Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside at the moderate level. If we are staying deluxe (which is usually a stretch for us) we love Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

I hope that you can find a room that works well for your family! Please stop back real soon with any additional vacation planning questions!
