We have FINALLY gotten our first trip planned with the family!!! We are going May 16th to May 23rd. Our daughter is 12. What is the best value for character dining? I was interested in the Mickey's Backyard BBQ cuz hubby is a picky eater :)

    Dannielle:

If you've got a picky eater in your family, you're smart to consider the Character Meals!  Most are buffets--so there's lots from which your picky eater can choose!

Below are my recommendations for value (price) + picky eater (buffets) + Character Dining (fun for a 12-year-old). All of these are at a considerable cost savings to the Mickey's backyard BBQ which only has general seating, so you could find yourself seated on the back row after standing in line for 45 minutes....
    • Chef Mickey's: Get the latest breakfast seating you can get (11:15ish), and you're getting "lunch" for the breakfast price!  PLUS: you get Mickey, Minnie and all the gang for half the cost of Mickey's BBQ!
    • Crystal Palace: If you don't want to get the breakfast menu and late seating, the lunch menu is practically the same as dinner.  It's probably my favorite buffet meal of any park--and one of the most economical.  Pooh and friends are the characters, so if that's not up your daughter's alley try...
    • 1900 Park Fare: Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner buffet includes pasta, prime rib, and turkey.  Best thing: it serves up Prince Charming and other Characters!  Put this all against the backdrop of the Grand Floridian, and you've got a home run for everyone in the family!
    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
