We have FINALLY decided that we're going to WDW for one week mid-April! Going with my family (DH, DS6 and DD4), and my parents and brother. We want connecting rooms. What resort would be best? Looking at either the value or the moderate ones.

    Tina:

Thanks for coming to the Moms Panel!

Honestly, every resort has its positives.  Because you're visiting in April when it's warming up, I'd choose your resort based on its pool.

All of the Value Resorts have basically the same pool, so for them, it merely comes down to theming for me.  With the ages of your kids, I'd go for either Pop Century with its nearby lake or All-Star Movies.  If you're not planning on spending much time at your resort or in your room, the values are a solid choice.

As you look at the Moderates, it's a close call between Caribbean Beach Resort and Port Orleans.  They both offer more space in their rooms than the values along with a refrigerator and a privacy curtain in the vanity area.  Their campuses also feel more like resorts and to me, are worth the upgrade from a value hotel.  From there, CBR offers a fabulous pool that is pirate-themed and its water play area is a hit with the younger set.  Port Orleans: Riverside provides a boat to Downtown Disney, along with its Ol' Man River pool area.  I personally prefer the French Quarter side of Port Orleans over Riverside for the fact that it has only one bus stop and the resort is not as vast as CBR or Riverside, but the pool isn't as fun-filled.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
