We are FINALLY cruising to Alaska departing on 7/4. What advice do you have as to what to pack clotheswise? Fun fact: This cruise was a HS graduation gift to my son who will now be a college Jr when we cruise. I also heard the cost for Palo went up.

    Ahoy Randi!

Welcome back to planDisney where I am so excited to hear that you'll be cruising to Alaska onboard the Disney Wonder. Despite the delay in celebrating, It sounds like a wonderful way to commemorate your son's graduation. Congratulations to him!

When it comes to packing for Alaska, I recommend layers! In fact, I recommend a variety of layers whenever you cruise, but for Alaska, you'll be needing some more substantial layers. I'd suggest a coat, mittens or gloves, a hat, and lighter layers like sweatshirts, a cardigan, or a fleece. Blankets will be provided on the pool deck when the weather is cooler and I love to snuggle up with a blanket and a warm drink (cocoa, tea, and coffee are complimentary at the beverage station). That sounds like a nice break from the heat you experience in the summer months!

Don't forget a swimsuit and sunscreen as well. The pools on board will be heated if the temperature falls below 75 degrees Fahrenheit. I also personally enjoy a dip in a whirlpool when the weather on deck feels chilly.  The Disney Cruise Line has a handy packing list on their website for more recommendations so you can be well prepared! Also, keep in mind what footwear will be most appropriate for any Port Adventures you may choose to participate in. If you'll be visiting a glacier or be in the snow, you'll want some boots for the occasion.

If you plan to dine in Palo (always a good idea in my book) you'll want to pack clothes that align with the dress code. This includes dress pants and collared shirt for the gentlemen in your group, and a dress, skirt, pants or blouse for the ladies. And don't forget to pack your appetite! I can't get enough of the lasagna at brunch and the souffle for dessert at dinner. Currently, reservations can be booked for Palo when your advanced onboard booking window opens and the price is $45 per Guest. Prices are subject to change without notice. I have found the overall dining experience between the incredible menu , beautiful surroundings, and exemplary service provided while dining in Palo to be well worth the additional cost. I'm sure your time in Palo will make for wonderful family memories!

Thanks for cruising our way, Randi. Please visit us again if you have any additional questions. We'd love to point your compass towards the best Alaskan adventure possible for you and your sailing crew.

    Happy Sailing,

    Adrianna
