Finally convinced my parents to join us in Disney (@ FW Cabins) for half the vacation, what do you recommend for my parents - my Dad won't want to do the parks all day, walking that long won't be comfortable. Some not to miss suggestions please! Thanks!

Hi April! I just returned from Fort Wilderness and a two week stay at the cabins. We had a wonderful time and enjoy the peacefulness you will find in that location.

If you can add a golf cart rental into your budget you will find that an excellent way for your parents to have some freedom to do things on their own.  It is the easiest way to get around the large campgrounds and the kids will enjoy their occasional rides in it as well. Reservations are suggested and you can call 407-824-2742.

There are numerous great activities to keep guests happy right there in Fort Wilderness.  Your father can choose to learn how to ride a Segway, practice some archery skills, tennis, horseback rides, or even rent a canoe or a bike. It takes about an hour to canoe the entire canals around that property and you will forget you are at Walt Disney World.  There are two Trading Posts to browse through and two swimming pools to enjoy. The main pool has a snack bar and plenty of shaded area where you can stop by for a cool drink in the afternoon.  We always enjoy stopping for a visit at the Disney stables too during our stay. My grandson always has to say hi to Nemo who was his first pony ride ever!

There is a direct boat from the Magic Kingdom so it will be easy for your parents to head back earlier if they choose to do that.  They might even stop and rent a pontoon boat or a sea raycer boat at the marina.  What my own father loved to do was to schedule a fishing excursion. There are three times a day that you can do that and I happened to catch six very large bass this past week!  Call 407-939-2277 to make reservations.

They can take a boat launch throughout the day to the Contemporary resort or the Wilderness Lodge as well. Once they reach the Contemporary they can hop on the monorail and head around the circle or change at the
TTC and make the trek to EPCOT for a nice ride. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!
