Fiirst time, 1st week of Aug. Planning on 1/2 day at water park. Want to "swim with the sharks" at TL. Do we need to be there 1st thing in the am? would late afternoon/evening work, want to avoid long lines. Which water park do you like best?

    Stacey:

Our family had water park passes last year, and we went to both parks multiple times, including the peak season of summer.

If you want to "swim with the sharks," I'd suggest going in the afternoon as they keep the water in that area cold—even for the dead of summer, it can be a little nippy in the morning.  We never encountered long lines even last July for that attraction.  Just keep in mind that if you go in the afternoon, you may have a more difficult time finding a chair.  But just be patient, there's plenty.

As for my favorite water park, it's Blizzard Beach, yep, the other park.  I love the sky lift, the longer family raft ride and its "Tike's Peak" area for my then-3-year-old.  It offers lots of medium slides for my school-age kids and the layout is easier for me to navigate.  Although I'm not much for the sand and "tropical" feel of Typhoon Lagoon, I heartily recommend its Crush 'n' Gusher, its tidal pool, and snorkeling!  (But it sounds like you've already figured that out!)

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
