How can I figure out if my old magic bands work? Not magic bands+. These are at least 2 years old.

Hello Wendy! Thank you for visiting us here at planDisney! One of the best parts about your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation is the ease of navigating through your day using a MagicBand (or a MagicBand+) for so many different things. From unlocking your Disney Resort Collection hotel room door, tapping into your favorite theme park (and Lightning Lane queues), and paying for merchandise or meals, the MagicBand makes vacationing easier!

You’ll be happy to know Wendy, that Disney estimates the technical life of your MagicBand to be about two years, however, I have recently used my own MagicBand which is three or four years old, without any issues or complications. The internal battery used in your MagicBand is mostly used to connect Guests to DisneyPhotoPass, so even if the battery no longer works, you should be able to use your band to enter the parks, unlock your room, and make purchases. While there is no way to test your MagicBand’s functionality at home, you can see how it works immediately upon arrival by testing it on your room door or visiting Guest Relations at either Disney Springs or the entrance to any theme park!

My recommendation would be to visit Disney Springs, grab a delicious treat from Gideon’s Bakehouse (my planDisney panelist friend Susan highly recommends the Triple Chocolate Chip cookie), then head to Guest Services to test your bands. If they don’t work, treat yourself to a new band from World of Disney or Disney’s Pin Traders

Suppose you can’t find that perfect band at either of those locations. In that case, you always can purchase one through the My Disney Experience App, on shopDisney, or at merchandise locations in Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.

    I hope this helps, Wendy!
