Well ahoy there Margaret, and welcome aboard planDisney!
Congratulations to you and your first mate, there really is nothing like celebrating your romance at sea and I hope that you made sure to make a note of the
Special Occasion on your reservation and order
any romantic onboard gifts that you might want before you sail!
I enjoy
Eastern Caribbean cruises for the ability to take advantage of everything the ship has to offer over the course of the Days at Sea required as you make your way to destinations like
Tortola as well as
St. Thomas and St. John. Now as with any of the
Ports of Call in tropical destinations like the Caribbean, you'll find many different options for Port Adventures that will take you to a variety of different beaches; whether you'll be able to relax depends on how busy it may be on the day as well as whether you'll be able to find a spot away from the crowds.
When traveling as a couple, your expectations for what makes a wonderful honeymoon beach experience may be different from the families full of excited children on board any Disney Cruise, so I have a few recommendations that may help you narrow down the
Port Adventures that could result in more relaxing excursion experiences:
- Aim for Port Adventures that may require a longer distance to travel from the ship. I've always found that the beaches that are situated closer to where a cruise ship docks tend to be significantly busier and may result in louder, crowded moments compared to the idyllic sandy silence that could be attained farther out. For example, having to sail out for a day at White Bay Beach may be well worth the added distance!
- In addition to this, it may be a good idea to take a look at the age requirements and pricing for children; a Port Adventure that may be less attractive to families with younger children have been better geared for couples in our experience. A key thing to remember is that with any excursions ashore, the speed of your group making it to various destinations and the time that you'll spend there may often depend on the slowest members of your party, so it may always be more convenient without any strollers in tow! Some great examples include A Day at the Baths in Tortola, or the St. John Trunk Bay Beach Getaway.
I hope that this was helpful Margaret, please come back to planDisney again to
