Hi, my fiancé and I are going to Castaway Cay in a couple months. My fiancé proposed there. It was a sweet surprise so we are hoping to get more formal photos taken there. How could we arrange to have a photographer take a couple of photos of us?

Aloha, Miracle! I’m honored you would sail by planDisney while making plans to celebrate such magical milestones. (And can I just say that as a fellow fan of both Disney Cruise Line and Stitch, I couldn’t be more excited for upcoming wedding plans!)

Perhaps the only thing more memorable than a Castaway Cay proposal is a Castaway Cay engagement photo shoot. (It sounds like the troll love experts helped you find your one true love and not a fixer upper!) I chatted with a Disney Cruise Line representative and discovered that once you board your ship, you’ll want to visit Shutters Photography Shop or Guest Services to inquire about booking a private photo session on Castaway Cay.

In the meantime, once your booking window for Port Adventures and onboard activities opens up, you can reserve a portrait session on the ship. Just visit “My Cruise Activities” online or the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. Then look for the day and time that’s most convenient for you and click “book”. You’ll be happy to know there is no sitting fee and you’re not obligated to purchase any of the images. If you like talking to pictures on the walls, this is a great opportunity to add to your collection!

Speaking of collections, did you know Disney Cruise Line offers an Unlimited Photo Package? This is the perfect way to take all your memories home with you, including character meetings, delicious dining moments, and yes, even beachside fun on Castaway Cay. This digital package lets you easily share photos and print out as many frame-worthy prints as your warm heart desires. I can also tell you that while pricing varies based on the length of your cruise, you will save on the onboard price when you pre-book up to three days before sailing.

Castaway Cay is my absolute favorite destination in the world, so can I offer one more tip? I suggest taking your photos as late in the afternoon as possible. Because so many of us super fans race off the ship to secure our spot on Serenity Bay, you might end up with other Guests in the background of your photos on the beach. Instead, I recommend having a leisurely breakfast of Mickey Churro Waffles (Castaway Cay day is the only time you’ll find them at the “Kids Corner”), getting your hair done at Senses Spa, and then disembarking when others might be returning to the ship for afternoon naps.

Whatever photos you end up choosing for your engagement announcement, I know they will be absolutely magical. In the words of our troll family, “love is a force that's powerful and strange”, so embrace it all! And if you have any other questions before your springtime sailing, I hope you’ll roll back to us here at planDisney.

    Until you’re troll-fully wed,
    Sami
