I have a few teen children who will run all day on rides and I need to step out of the park to rest for a few hours. They have magic bands. Can I book lightning lanes and Gene+ rides for them while I am outside of the park from my phone for them?

Hello, Gabriela! We are so glad you stopped by planDisney! It sounds like you and I are kindred spirits, and I am happy to share my advice with you.

As a mom of three teenage sons, I can perfectly relate to your situation. I am a true morning person, and I love to watch the sunrise from the balcony of my Disney Resorts Collect Hotel, but that also means that by early afternoon, I am ready for a nap or a respite by the pool. After my kids turned 14, I felt comfortable leaving them in the parks for a few hours while my husband and I headed back to our hotel.

The good news is that as long as you manage them through your Friends & Family list, you can book Genie+ selections for your kids, even if you are not with them. To make things easier, I recommend setting up a My Disney Experience account for at least one of them so they can use the app on their phone to see their next return time. Since they'll have MagicBands, they can simply scan them at the attraction entrances. My oldest son actually prefers to use Disney MagicMobile through the wallet app on his mobile device to scan in because he doesn't like tan lines!

The rule of thumb is you can make another Genie+ Lightning Lane return time either when you check in for your current selection or after 120 minutes have passed since you made your current selection. I find it helpful to set a timer on my phone or watch every 2 hours so that I don’t forget. Also, while you can only make one Genie+ selection at a time, you can hold several Genie+ selections at once and purchase an Individual Lightning Lane attraction that overlaps with a Genie+ selection. Here's another tip: sometimes I let my kids sleep in, and we don't arrive at the parks until the afternoon. By then, I have several Genie+ return windows "stacked up," and we can ride without a long wait in between.

I hope this helps, Gabriela! Please feel free to write us back anytime!
