We will have a few resort-only days during our family's summer trip. Are there any unique experiences or restaurants we shouldn't miss?

    Hey there, Emily!

Welcome back to planDisney, I’ll be more than happy to share my ideal resort day itinerary with you!

Every time we visit we plan for at least one resort day. It’s funny because we never used to do that and now it’s become one of our favorite days of the trip. Here are a few ideas for you based on what my family has done and enjoyed. The first option is a relaxing resort day. We usually plan to sleep in a bit then head on over to Disney Springs for some shopping and a visit to World of Disney. We like to keep dining basic with a sandwich so that we can enjoy our favorite dessert, beignets. We usually take the bus from Disney Springs over to Port Orleans-French Quarter for an order, or two, of beignets. They are so worth it! After that, we’ll head back to our resort for a swim and early night so that we can rope drop the next morning.

Another option is packing in the fun! We’ve started our resort day with an early Enchanting Extra. Our go-to is the guided Fishing Excursion. My husband is obsessed and our little ones enjoy it because we have all been lucky enough to catch fish every time we’ve gone. It’s nothing like fishing at home. After that, we’ll head back to our resort to freshen up for lunch or dinner.

Now when it comes to dining outside of the parks I have a few suggestions. For breakfast, our family favorites are Topolino’s Terrace, Chef Mickey’s, or ‘Ohana. All three of these restaurants are near different transportation options so after eating you can take a roundtrip adventure on the Monorail or Skyliner if dining at Topolino’s. It’s a fun way to explore the different resort options and maybe even do some shopping at the resorts. Honestly, after breakfast, the sky's the limit on our little resort excursions. Especially when it's one of these three restaurants.

If you’re looking for dinner options, a fun one is Sanaa. You’ll get to enjoy African cooking with Indian flavors, plus catch a view of the exotic animals roaming the Savanna. Talk about a breathtaking dinner. We also enjoy dining at Steakhouse 71. Depending on when you are planning for your break you may want to check the calendar to see if there will be fireworks that evening. If they are on the schedule, schedule a later dinner so that you can catch a glimpse of those from the Contemporary or even take the walk from the Contemporary over to the main entrance of Magic Kingdom so that you can see the fireworks from a distance. If you're up for it, you could even book a Firework Cruise!

Emily, you can go the distance with all the available resort day options. I hope my suggestions help you plan for your break day. If you need any other tips or any more guidance, please ask! I’ll be more than happy to give you more details or other recommendations.

    Happy Planning,

    Shantel
