We will be going to a few character dining buffets and have the dining plan. I think that leaving 15 to 20% is quite hi since all the waiters do is bring you your drink and clear your plates. What is a typical tip you would leave for that?

At first glance if would appear that servers in buffet restaurants do less than servers at traditional a la carte restaurants, Donna.  But when you consider the fact that buffet servers actually have to be very vigilant (possibly even more so than a server in a non-buffet restaurant) in stopping by your table to check for empty plates it becomes clear that buffet servers have to work hard for their tips!  Buffet servers are also still responsible for refilling drinks.  In actuality, the only thing they don't do is take your food order, but they certainly make up for it with all that plate clearing.  When my family dines in a buffet restaurant, we leave a standard 15-20 percent tip, just as we would in any other location.
