Hey There, Hi There, Ho There, Dawn!
You're as welcome as can be here at planDisney. I'm so glad you dropped by with your question. How exciting that you're planning to visit Walt Disney World Resort this coming January. With typically mild weather and smaller crowds for much of the month, January is one of my favorite times to visit. In fact, my family is also planning a visit to Walt Disney World in January 2023 for just this reason –– great minds must think alike!
While there isn't an official crowd calendar on the
Walt Disney World website, I can give you an idea of what crowds in January typically look like. Walt Disney World Resort is VERY busy for the New Year's holiday (seriously, can you think of a better place to ring in the New Year?), then usually start to taper off as the month goes on. You'll see them spike again around Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and then drop again as you approach the end of the month. In fact, the last week of January through the middle of February is when you can often find some of the lowest Walt Disney World crowds of the whole year (although keep in mind that just because this has been the case in the past, it may not hold true in the future).
In addition to taking advantage of smaller crowds, from mid-January through mid-February you can also enjoy one of my favorite EPCOT festivals of the year –– the
EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. With incredible demonstrations by talented artists, interactive displays and exhibits, and even some of
Broadway's biggest stars live on stage, this is an event you won't want to miss! While dates for next year's event haven't been released yet, I can tell you that last year's festival ran from January 14, 2022 through February 21, 2022, so I would expect to see a similar timeframe in 2023. For all the latest news and updates about next year's festival, be sure to keep an eye on
Disney Parks Blog as the date gets closer.
Thanks so much for visiting planDisney, Dawn. I'm wishing you lots of pixie dust during your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort!
Happy Planning,
Amy
