Melanie:
Thanks for the Mississippi shout out!
As a part of Disney's 2009 theme, "What Will You Celebrate?", you'll find that if YOU are celebrating something then Disney wants to celebrate WITH you!
There is nothing set in stone for those celebrating a first visit (if you're thinking free perks), however, you'll find that sometimes an extra measure of pixie dust comes your way when you least expect it! (Especially if you request your "First Visit" buttons at
the resort's Concierge Desk OR at guest relations at the parks.) In fact, my husband and I just returned from celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary at Disney. I mentioned that it was our anniversary for our two dining reservations and when making our resort accommodations. I don't know if it was luck or Disney's special touch, but we received a quiet corner room at Port Orleans: French Quarter and at Artist Point, we were seated at a table for two right by the window near the rear of the restaurant.
On the flip side, though, at Les Chefs de France, I noticed nothing out of the ordinary, in fact, no mention was made of our anniversary even though we were wearing our buttons. However, what made our day at Epcot was Cast Member Lonnie at the American Pavilion who told us we had a phone call! It was from Mickey and Minnie wishing us a Happy Anniversary! It made me feel so special.
My advice for the free perks: don't be shy to wear your button--afterall, Disney can't read your mind--and don't try to anticipate the unexpected kindness that may come your way. It wouldn't be as delightful! If you're looking to splurge to make your first visit special, you can always take a peak
here at some suggestions from Disney!
Wishing y'all a magical vacation!
