Hi, Heather! Welcome to planDisney.
Bringing your mother-in-law to Walt Disney World for her first trip is such a thoughtful and fun way to share the magic! Watching someone take it all in for the first time—the wonder, the music, the snacks, the rides—you can’t beat it! You're not just planning a vacation, you’re now in the core memory business, Heather.
Here are three underrated experiences I like to recommend for first-timers that can easily be missed in all the excitement:
1.
Drawn to Life Presented by Cirque du Soleil & Disney at Disney Springs – This show is an absolute gem. It combines the heart and imagination of Disney animation with the breathtaking talent of Cirque performers. The storyline is touching, the visuals are stunning, and the performers are so talented. It’s a perfect evening out, especially for someone who might appreciate a break from the theme park pace but still wants something magical.
2. Resort Hopping on the Monorail Loop – This is a relaxing way to explore beyond the parks. Grab a DOLE Whip at
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, admire the elegant charm of
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, or check out the views (and the gift shops) at
Disney’s Contemporary Resort. It’s low-key but full of Disney details, and it gives first-timers a broader sense of just how much thought and creativity go into every corner of Walt Disney World.
3. Festival Entertainment at
EPCOT – If your trip lines up with one of EPCOT’s seasonal festivals (and it probably will—there are several throughout the year!), don’t skip the live music, art booths, or cultural performances. They’re often tucked between the food kiosks and attractions, but they add so much richness to the experience. They tend to be crowd favorites for first-time Guests.
I hope that gives you some options to choose from, Heather. I trust you’ll have a practically perfect time with your mother-in-law. Happy planning!
Mike
