What are fees like if on board medical services are needed?

    Hi, Bonnie!

Fortunately, my family or I have never required the medical services provided on board a Disney ship -- yet, it sure is nice knowing that there is a doctor and nurse on board and available 24 hours a day.  Of course, the cost for the physician and nurse's services is going to vary greatly depending on the patient's condition and resulting services provided. The physician and nurse are employed by a company independent from Disney Cruise Line (DCL), and standard prevailing fees will be charged for all physician and nurse services.

You can probably get a cost breakdown from Guest Services once you're on board or perhaps a DCL Travel Representative can put you in touch with someone who can answer your specific questions about the cost of medical services. Most US medical insurance policies and US government-provided medical plans do not cover medical expenses incurred while traveling outside of the country. Therefore, it is wise to purchase travel insurance which covers medical expenses. Just make sure you read all the conditions and provisions.

I hope this helps you plan. Let me know if I can be of further assistance to you. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
