Feeling very overwhelmed with dining!! Taking our first ever trip to Disney with our 5yo and 2 yo 10/26-11/2. We are getting the standard dining plan and heard we need to book restaurants now. How do we know what our plans will be this far in advance?

    Hi Tracy,

Planning your first Walt Disney World vacation can be a little overwhelming. It seems as though there is a lot to think about so far in advance, but trust me, a little planning now will save you from frustration down the road. After all, a Disney vacation should be magical!

Restaurants at Walt Disney World are extremely popular, especially character dining experiences. Guests can make reservations up to 180 days in advance, and they do. While you don't have to plan minute by minute, making dining reservations, creates a framework for your vacation. You'll know what parks to visit each day. Of course, you can always cancel reservations up to 24 hours in advance if you think you'll want to adjust plans.

I'm not sure what kind of tickets you've purchased. Do you have park hoppers, or just base tickets that are good for one park per day? What resort are you staying at? Which parks are you planning to visit? These questions will help us help give you great suggestions for touring and dining.

Assuming you are visiting one park per day, I recommend the following:

    October 26 - Magic Kingdom
    October 27 - Animal Kingdom
    October 28 - Epcot
    October 29 - Hollywood Studios
    October 30 - Magic Kingdom
October 31 - Epcot or Animal Kingdom
    November 1 - Magic Kingdom

Hope this helps you get started. Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
