I am feeling a little over whelmed. My husband and I are taking our 15 month old for the first time. My husband and I have never been before. What are the best attractions for him? Can you bring a stroller with you or do you have to rent one?

    Ashley:

A little upfront planning will help you feel more at ease!  Here are some things he'll enjoy:
    • Magic Kingdom: Both Fantasyland and Mickey's Toon Town offer the old-time Disney characters and attractions that will suit his size.  Adventureland's Jungle Cruise and Country Bear Jamboree also are fun for toddlers.  In my opinion, you could easily spend two days at MK.
    • Disney Studios:  Playhouse Disney brings to life Mickey and all the gang.  Muppet's in 3D is a favorite of my youngster, along with Beauty and the Beast. Stake out a place on the parade route about 30 minutes before the afternoon parade—Pixar characters are the stars!
    • Animal Kingdom: If he likes animals, take him on the trails after riding Kilamanjaro Safari.  He'll get to see apes and lots of other animals in a more natural setting than a zoo.  Our kids like the Boneyard and its slides, and don't miss Wonders of Flight, Nemo or Lion King.  These shows will keep both your attentions.
    • Epcot:  Probably the park that offers the least for him, but the most for you.  For him, you'll primarily stay toward the right of the front of the park in The Land and The Seas pavilions.  If he enjoys riding in a stroller, visit Epcot. But if not, leave it for another visit.
Since we're on the subject of strollers: you can either rent a stroller while at Disney or bring one.  I recommend bringing your own, especially if you're on a budget because by the end of a week of rentals you could have paid for a very nice new one!
For more ideas, spend a little time in the archives section of our Mom's Panel site under Toddlers.  You may find some questions—and answers—you might never would have thought to ask, and find helpful to making your trip more enjoyable!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
