I feel so overwhelmed trying to plan this vacation. We are a family of 5 with 3 children ages 12,7,&2. The dining plan with a 2 year old in not available. What are some good character dinners that will not cost $30+ for a child's meal?

Hi Katie!  Please don't be overwhelmed by planning your vacation, we are here to help you.

Children under the age of 3 are considered special guests of my pal, Mickey Mouse, and are admitted into all of the Disney theme parks for free and are able to eat at restaurants for free as well.  You actually can purchase the Disney Dining Plan for your family, you just don't have to pay for the littlest one.  This is how your 2 year old can eat for free -
    • If you dine at all-you-care-to-enjoy restaurants like 'Ohana, Cape May Cafe and Chef Mickey's, your 2 year old is welcome to have as many of his/her own plates from the buffet
    • If you dine at table service restaurants where you order an entree off of a menu, your little one can share from anyone's plate at your table.  You can also bring some snacks for him/her to enjoy as well.

I do highly recommend the Disney Dining Plan.  My family always purchases it for our vacations because it really does save us money.  Not only that, but it's so convenient having everything paid for ahead of time.

For character meals, I love Tusker House located inside Disney's Animal Kingdom for breakfast.  You get to meet Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Mickey Mouse and Goofy all in their safari gear.  It's a fun photo opportunity and a really great meal.  I also really like Cape May Cafe, for breakfast, at Disney's Beach Club Resort.  There you can meet Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy who are all dressed up in their beach gear ready for the day.  This is an off the beaten path breakfast, so it's less busy and I find the characters spend plenty of time at each table.  It doesn't feel rushed.

I know a lot goes into planning a Walt Disney World vacation so if you need anything else, please come back and ask me.

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
