Is there a fee for not showing up to your resort exactly by 3? I know you can get there earlier and just wait for the room to be ready but what about if you’re a few hours late? Will they give the room to someone else? Or charge you a late fee?

Hey there, Whitney! Welcome back to planDisney! It’s exciting to see that you’ll be visiting Walt Disney World Resort during The World’s Most Magical Celebration! Be sure to munch on all of the delicious 50th anniversary snacks while you’re in the parks.

There is no penalty for arriving at your Walt Disney World Resorts Collection hotel after the stated check-in time. My family typically drives down to Walt Disney World, and with three little ones in tow, we never make it before the 3 p.m. check-in! The posted check-in time is just a guide for when you can reasonably expect to occupy your room. However, this time is not guaranteed, and your room may not be ready by 3 p.m.

Even if you expect to arrive a few hours behind schedule, you can always check into your Resort Hotel in the My Disney Experience app. While completing the check-in prompts, you can let the hotel know your expected arrival time and opt to receive a mobile notification when your room is ready.

I also like to use the Direct-To-Room Service option in the My Disney Experience app. It gives you the freedom to head straight to your hotel room when you arrive (if it’s ready), bypassing the front desk! This way, if we arrive super late and the kids are sleeping, we can head straight to our room with no worries!

I hope this helps, Whitney! If you have more questions while planning, stop back by and ask me. The magic awaits!

    Until Next Time,
