Hi all, I have fear of big drops, which rises I should avoid in Walt Disney World?

    Hi Camila,

Welcome to planDisney, and thanks for… dropping in! (See what I did there?) While thrill rides are my favorite, I completely understand where you're coming from—I have someone in my family who isn't a fan of big drops, so I'm happy to share what I've learned to help you plan your adventure.

The most obvious ride with a big drop is The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios, where you'll experience multiple unexpected freefalls. Another one to be aware of is Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom, which has a large drop toward the end of the ride.

Beyond those, here are some attractions at each park that include drops:
    Magic Kingdom

    • Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and TRON Lightcycle / Run all feature roller coaster drops.
    • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Pirates of the Caribbean have smaller drops—my little one, who's cautious about thrills, handled these just fine.

    Disney's Animal Kingdom

    •  Expedition Everest has a big drop and a thrilling backward section.
    • Avatar Flight of Passage creates the sensation of a drop, but it's more of an illusion—you're mostly stationary, while special effects make you feel like you're soaring.

    EPCOT

    •  Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has exciting drops and turns, but the smooth ride and incredible soundtrack make it a favorite for many.
    • Frozen Ever After has a small drop, similar to Pirates of the Caribbean—nothing too intense, and since it's designed for families, it might be manageable for you.

    Disney's Hollywood Studios

    •  In addition to Tower of Terror, Rock' n' Roller Coaster and Slinky Dog Dash have traditional coaster drops.
    • Star Tours uses motion simulation to create the illusion of a drop, much like Flight of Passage.

Camila, I hope this helps you map out your must-do (or must-avoid) rides, but don't let my experiences stop you from trying something new. You know your comfort level best, and Disney creates immersive and fun attractions for all types of riders. Some of these may feel more thrilling on paper than they actually are in person. I told my son the same thing, and now we're buying Lightning Lane passes for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle / Run every chance we get.

If you have any more questions, feel free to stop by again.
