Hiya Tara,
Welcome to planDisney! Please pass along my sincerest thanks to your father for his service. As the child of two veterans, I have such fond memories of visiting Walt Disney World Resort with my family, and I have the biggest smile on my face because my father wants to give you the gift of magical vacations.
My parents are also looking to gift the new
Disney Celebrates America Military Salute ticket to my three-year-old for Christmas this year, so I’ve been in full research mode. I recently spoke with a Shades of Green representative about military tickets, so I’m happy to provide an answer to this question for you. If your father is an
Eligible Service Member, he would be able to purchase theme park tickets for you and your family to use. Still, one of those tickets must be used by your father (or his spouse), and he (or his spouse) must also be present to activate the tickets during their first use. If he (or his spouse) is unable to be physically present, you will not be able to activate or use them.
I’m so sorry this wasn’t the answer you were hoping for, Tara. One idea your father might want to look into, since he is unable to travel with you, is
Disney Gift Cards. He can gift you all Disney Gift Cards with the price of the Military theme park tickets on them, and then you can use them to purchase standard theme park tickets for your vacation. I know it is not the same, but at least this way, your father would still be able to give you all the gift of Disney magic, even though he physically isn’t able to join in. Please come back and see us if you need anything else.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
