my father visiting disney. They are from India and only have foreign passports as ID proof. Can we bring soft / printed copies of their foreign indian passports. We are reluctant to bring originals as it's risky if we loose it for return journey.

    Hello Balaji!

Welcome to planDisney! I'm so excited that you are planning a fun trip to Walt Disney World Resort with your father! My parents are also from India and visiting Walt Disney World Resort is one of those moments that truly fulfills the "American dream." I know you are visiting during the "cooler" months in Florida but it is still hot and humid. Make sure to take time to rest and hydrate as often as possible as one can easily walk several miles in one Park day.

I'm not sure where you think you will need an ID, but there are at minimum three times when an ID will be needed:

    1. You may need to show your ID if you are purchasing alcohol

    2. If you have to pick up your tickets from the ticket window they may ask for the ID of the person who purchased the tickets. They may also request additional items such as the credit card used for the purchase and a receipt.

    3. You may also need a valid ID for check-in at your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. That ID may only be needed for the person who made the reservation.

If you, and not your father, made the reservations and purchased the ticket then you don't have to worry about your father's ID. However, if he wishes to purchase some alcohol then Cast Members may request his ID and that can be an original foreign passport or a copy of a foreign passport along with an original foreign driver's license. I understand being nervous about traveling with an original passport. Did you know that each Disney Resort Room comes with a safe that is free to use? I always store my important documents in the safe before heading out into the Parks. Just make sure to remember to check it before you leave! I once left behind my children's passports in the safe of my Resort Room when checking out and an amazing Cast Member hunted it down for me. It sure was stressful but it all worked out.

I hope that this was helpful and if you have any questions please feel free to let me know directly!

    Happy Planning!

My husband and I work very hard to journey to our favorite place on Earth, Walt Disney World Resort, as much as we can. We have traveled as just adults, with babies, kids, teenagers, and senior citizens. We have seen so many characters, eaten at amazing places, and consumed a ton of Dole Whips. So "give a little whistle" and let me be your guide! Learn More About Nimmy
