My father is older and has some handicaps. He would love to come along with us to Florida, but would love to just hang out at the hotel. What would you recommend for a handicap accessible room and an awesome resort for him to spend all of his time at?

    Hi Katie!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm happy to help with your question!

I love the idea of taking your father on your vacation so that he can share in the fun with your family. There are so many things to enjoy at each of the resort hotels that I don't really think you can go wrong with any of them. Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge would be a really neat place for him to enjoy the resort while you are in the parks. He could spend time watching the animals and learning about the different African species from the Animal Specialists that are on hand and there are several different dining options that he might enjoy without having to go very far. Of course the resort accessible rooms are also sure to meet all of his needs.

Another option might be Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. The perfectly landscaped and manicured grounds are great for exploring and admiring. Riverside Mill Food Court is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and Boatwright's Dining Hall is open for nightly for dinner. River Roost lounge has live entertainment by popular cabaret performer Yehaa Bob which would be a fun way to start the evening. Just a short stroll down the Sassagoula River is Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter where he would find even more to do and enjoy. So either of these resort hotels might provide a two for one as far as things to see and do since they are so close together.

I sure hope you find something that he will enjoy and you can make some wonderful memories with him and the rest of your family. Let us know if we can help with anything else. Happy planning!
