Hi! My father in law was a huge fan of Disney and a long time member of the DVC. His illness took him away before he was able to make a final visit but booked a trip for our family as his final wish. We are unable to buy park tickets now, can you help?

Hi there, Margaret! Welcome to planDisney, my friend. I'm so glad that you've stopped by with your question.

Margaret, first, let me offer my sincerest heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Your father-in-law sounds like a wonderful, generous man who lived a fun-filled, magical life. The fact that he continues to sprinkle pixie dust on his loved ones with a trip to his happy place brings warmth to my heart and a tear to my eye. I am honored to help you and your family remember and celebrate him and his magical life with a trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth.

After checking the Theme Park Reservation Availability calendar for Select Resort Hotels, I do see that most theme parks for most days of your trip are unavailable. As of the time that I am checking the calendar, I see that only EPCOT is available for your arrival date and on April 16, 2022. I know that is definitely not the news you wanted to hear, but if your trip dates and schedule allow, I recommend purchasing theme park tickets for those days and reserving any available dates. Then, check the availability morning, noon and night from now until your arrival date. Other Guests' plans change all the time, so, you never know what may become available! If you don't find any Park Pass reservation availability, let's chat about some options for you and your family to still have a magical and memorable time together.

Since the water parks don't require a Park Pass reservation at this time, I'd suggest spending some time splashing around Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. Although the attractions are wet, the Disney magic is not watered down here! This water park has SO much to do - super-fast body slides, family raft rides, an awesome wave pool, and the best lazy river (that's my speed!). Since no Disney vacation is complete without a DOLE Whip, cool off with one (or three!) at the Snack Shack. That sounds like a practically perfect Disney day!

Since you are staying at one of the fabulous Disney Vacation Club Resorts, I recommend spending time enjoying everything that your Resort has to offer! I enjoy downtime and fun at my DVC Resort as much as (if not more than!) the theme parks. I suggest heading to your Resort's webpage and clicking the "Recreation" tab to see the not-to-be-missed recreation offerings right at your magical home away from home. But that isn't the full list of Resort activities! When you arrive at your Resort, snap a photo of the Resort Activities board in or near the lobby so that you always have easy access to the list of activities and schedules. Some of my favorite Disney memories are made right at our Resort.

If you are anything like me, food is a big part of the fun, so while you are exploring your Resort's webpage, click the "Dining" tab to check out all of your delicious nearby dining options. Speaking of dining options, don't forget about Disney Springs, where you can find endless fabulous dining experiences, shopping and entertainment ... no theme park ticket or Park Pass reservation required!

Margaret, I know that the lack of Park Pass Reservation availability must be so disappointing, but as someone who has done a DVC Resort-only stay, I know you'll still have an unforgettable family vacation. May you feel your father-in-law's pixie dust and magical love with you in every moment. Please stop by any time with any questions you may have. You've got a friend in me!

    Sending Pooh-sized hugs,

    Mandy
