Hiya James,
Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for bringing your planning question to us today! I'm so sorry to hear about your father. I hope he feels better soon! We will keep him in our thoughts and send pixie dust for a speedy recovery.
According to Walt Disney World Resort policy, Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park tickets are
nontransferable and nonrefundable, so you cannot cancel them and get a refund. Since this is the case, Guests in similar situations typically elect to change the dates of their tickets to be used for a future trip. Your parents may have to pay for the difference in ticket prices depending on the new dates, and as long as they haven't used a day of their Theme Park tickets first, it should be pretty easy to do. If you aren't sure when they can make a trip to Walt Disney World Resort, keep the tickets linked to their
My Disney Experience account. Another option is to contact a Cast Member in
Existing Ticket services. They could provide more in-depth insight based on your unique situation and help walk you through the best option for your family.
I know this wasn't the answer you were hoping for, James, but I help this was helpful. Please come back and see us if you need anything else. Before I let you go, don't forget to jot down your parents' ticket id/confirmation number for their tickets. Even if the expiration date lapses, you can still reach out to a Cast Member to see if they can apply the value of your Theme Park tickets to future tickets if that is their chosen route.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
