My father is currently the manager of our Disney plans and has control of my sons magic bands. Is there a way to switch my sons magic band over to me so I can manage it?

    Hi Michael, welcome to planDisney!

I just returned from a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation and am happy to let my Disney experience help plan your Disney experience. Each visiting Guest requires a My Disney Experience account or account profile to experience the parks. This is the virtual space that houses a Guest's ticket(s), theme park reservations, linked MagicBand and/or MagicBand+, dining reservations, Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations, etc. Guests under the age of 13 are required to have an account profile managed by an adult's account. Only one adult can officially manage a child's profile, but anyone connected to that child as Family & Friends can view and make plans for them.

MagicBands offer hands-free access to touchpoints at theme park entry and Lightning Lane entrances. MagicBands are linked to individuals' My Disney Experience accounts or account profiles and cannot be reassigned once linked. It sounds like your son's MagicBand is linked to an account profile managed by your father's My Disney Experience account. Depending on how you and your son are connected in My Disney Experience, there are a few paths to accomplish your goal of managing your son's profile, which includes his MagicBand. All paths require Cast Member assistance.

    1. If your son does not appear on your Family & Friends List, add him to your Family & Friends List before contacting a Cast Member for assistance. Adding him to your Family & Friends List requires you to first be connected to your father; your son should then automatically appear for selection when "Find through my connected Guests" is selected. I recently had success switching the management of my children's My Disney Experience account profiles from my husband to me via the live Cast Member chat. Look for the Chat icon on the right side of the Help Center screen. Cast Members are available from 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. EST. You can also call the My Disney Experience, MagicBand, and MagicBand+ number for assistance. Be prepared to provide the email address connected to you and your father's My Disney Experience accounts.

    2. If your son appears on your Family & Friends List and the words "Plans managed by me" do not appear, use one of the methods shared in option 1 to contact a Cast Member requesting that your son's profile be managed by you.

    3. If your son appears on both your and your father's Family & Friends Lists with the words "plans managed by me," that means two separate account profiles were created for your son. Cast Member assistance is required to merge those accounts for seamless planning. Use one of the methods shared in option 1 to contact a Cast Member requesting your son's account profiles be merged.

I know that was a lot of tech talk, Michael. I promise that the steps you are taking now will prevent unnecessary trips to Guest Relations during your trip. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly with any follow-up questions.
